Resources on Campus

These are just a few of the resources on UNCG campus that will benefit you.

The Students First Office (SFO) fosters a learner-centered experience for undergraduate success by serving as one of the first lines of response in helping UNCG students address any number of academic issues they may experience at the University. The office coordinates intervention processes across different academic and administrative units to help students determine the best possible success strategies for addressing academic concerns.

The Academic Achievement Center cultivates the development of critical thinking skills and active learning through personal, collaborative exchanges between students, tutors, leaders, and staff. Our culture of learning is based on cognitive scaffolding that deepens the students’ knowledge of specific subject material and facilitates increased self-awareness of how they learn in general. Students discover the value of engaging actively in the learning process and develop the ability to adapt to the varying challenges of liberal arts coursework.

The Office of Leadership and Civic Engagement serves as a catalyst for experiential curricular and co-curricular leadership development and service-learning initiatives that empower students to effect positive change and serve as citizen leaders in a global community. Through civic engagement, integrated learning, and reflective practice we equip students to develop a personal, professional and civic identity. It is our vision that every UNCG student will have the opportunity to realize his/her capacity to effect positive change in society and enhance a personal philosophy of leadership.

New Student Transitions & First Year Experience offers a texting service to both students and their families.  Individuals can text in any questions or concerns they may have and someone from our office will reply promptly via text with the answer.

This program is a great way for students and Spartan Families to get quick answers regarding such things as campus resources, events, and programs going on at UNCG.

Texts will be responded to during normal business hours only, Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm.  Please note that you must type in the 1 and area code for both texting numbers even if you live in the 336 area code.

The Office of Intercultural Engagement offers advocacy, programming, and support systems to encourage students to realize the highest level of their potential, particularly as it pertains to the University’s retention and graduation efforts of traditionally under-served student populations (such as, but not limited to race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression).

The Dean of Students Office in the Division of Student Affairs works with students, their families, faculty and staff in creating and sustaining a culture of care at UNCG.

The mission of the Dean of Students Office is to initiate learner-centered programs and services that foster a culture of care conducive to academic and personal development.
